Lagori, also known as Lingocha, Pitto in Rajasthan, Pittu in Bengal, or Satoliya in Madhya Pradesh, is a traditional team sport native to the southern part of India. It is primarily played at a recreational level and is a popular playground and street game. The sport is known by various names, with “Pittu Garam” being one of them, which translates to “7 stones.”

Here are the basic rules and elements of Lagori:

1. Teams: Lagori is played between two teams, each consisting of a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 9 players.
2. Equipment: The game requires seven stones and a rubber ball.

3. Objective: The objective of the game is for one team to knock down the stacked seven stones from a distance and then attempt to stack them back in their original position while the other team tries to prevent them from doing so.
4. Chances: Each team gets nine chances in total, with three players from each team taking three chances each to knock down the stacked stones.
5. Knocking Down Stones: The throwing team aims to knock down the stacked stones using the rubber ball. If they successfully do so, they proceed to try and stack the stones while the defensive team retrieves the ball.
6. Defensive Play: The defensive team’s objective is to strike a player from the throwing team below the knee level with the ball. Players on the defensive team are not allowed to run with the ball and must pass it between players to move it.
7. Scoring: If the offensive team successfully stacks the seven stones before being struck by the defensive team, they earn a point and get another chance to throw the ball. However, if the defensive team manages to hit a player from the offensive team below the knee, possession changes, and it becomes their turn to throw.
8. Match Duration: There are no fixed rules for the number of players or match durations in Lagori. Matches are typically played for a predetermined number of points, often ranging from 7 to 10.
